He spoke in IP addresses the way elders speak in proverbs.
And yet every month, he borrowed transport money.
Uncle Rwamiti watched him quietly from his wooden stool at the petrol station forecourt.
“Paul,” he finally said one afternoon, “you are very clever. But you are not useful.”
Paul almost choked.
“I fix systems, Uncle. Networks. CCTV. Tracking platforms. What do you mean I’m not useful?”
Rwamiti smiled.
“You fix wires. But you do not fix problems.”
The Fuel Truck Lesson
A massive fuel tanker reversed slowly into the station yard.
It had everything:
GPS tracking.
Fuel sensors.
Speed alerts.
Route history.
Driver behavior monitoring.
Modern fleet management.
Every month, the tracking company sent detailed reports.
Every month, invoices were paid.
And every month, fuel still disappeared.
The truck still idled in strange places at night.
Delivery times drifted.
Drivers developed habits.
No one connected the dots.
“We had data,” Rwamiti said.
“But we did not have interpretation.”
The Comfort of Technical Work
Paul’s life was full of tickets.

The market is flooded with people who know how to configure.
It is starving for people who know how to interpret.
Technology collects information.
But interpretation protects capital.
And capital pays differently.
Paul thought his ceiling was routers.
