Mobility is about whether a father gets home with enough energy to speak to his children.

Whether a business owner reaches customers.

Whether an ambulance reaches a patient.

Whether opportunities remain within reach for ordinary citizens.

A city begins to decline long before it collapses.

It declines when movement becomes exhausting.

When journeys become unpredictable.

When people quietly adjust their ambitions to fit congestion, delays, and dysfunction.

That realisation inspired me to transform my doctoral research into a public narrative.

Not another academic report.

A story.

A reflection.

A conversation about what happens when a city slowly loses its ability to move.

The result is The City That Could No Longer Move.

Written from an African perspective, but relevant to cities everywhere, it explores congestion, urban systems, human well-being, and the future of mobility through stories and systems thinking rather than technical jargon.
